How approval works in Postial
What the client sees
The review page shows the brand and a preview of the post: text, images, link, scheduled time and channel names. The reviewer types their name and approves, or requests changes with a required comment.
What your team sees
The Approvals page groups posts into Awaiting, Changes requested, Approved and Published, with the latest reviewer name and comment. Owners can send a notice to Slack, Discord or Mattermost when a client decides.
Edits reset approval
Saving a content change resets approval, so the client always approves what will actually be published. Moving only the date keeps the approval.
Links you can revoke
Anyone holding a link can open its review page. If a link was forwarded too widely, use Regenerate link: the old one stops working and earlier decisions stay in the history.
How to set up client approval with Postial
1. Compose and request approval
On Agency, write the post, choose channels and a time, and turn on approval. For a campaign, set requires_approval per row in a CSV import.
2. Send the link
Open Approvals, copy the post's link and send it to the reviewer through your usual channel. Postial does not email it for you.
3. Act on the decision
An approved post publishes at its scheduled time. For requested changes, edit, save and ask for another review.
4. Confirm it went out
Approved is not the same as published. Check each channel's status afterwards, and follow any retries on the post.
What to know before you rely on it
- Approval links are an Agency feature (€49/month). Starter has no client links; you review drafts yourself.
- Each post carries one current decision. There is no multi-stage chain with several required sign-offs.
- Approved posts publish to Postial's live networks: Bluesky, Mastodon and Telegram. Other networks are Early access and subject to each provider's conditions.
- The link is the only access control. Share it privately and regenerate it if it leaks.
- Published or already publishing posts cannot get a new link.

Frequently asked questions
Does my client need a Postial account or a seat?
No. The review link works without a login, and reviewers do not use one of your 5 Agency seats.
What happens if the client never responds?
The post stays held. It does not publish without approval. You can see every waiting post under Awaiting on the Approvals page and follow up.
Does an edit after approval go out unreviewed?
No. Saving a content edit resets approval, so the post waits for a new decision. Only date-only rescheduling keeps the existing approval.
Can I automate approval requests?
Yes, on Agency. The REST API returns an approval link when you create a post with approval, and the n8n node and webhooks can react to approval.decided events. See the n8n guide.
Can I try it before signing up?
