Connect Telegram
Authorize the intended Telegram account and confirm its connection before scheduling.
Steps
- Open Telegram and contact the official @BotFather yourself.
- Use /newbot and follow its instructions to create a bot.
- Copy the bot token and keep it private.
- Open your target channel's administrator settings.
- Add your bot as an administrator with permission to post messages.
- In Postial, open Brands → select your brand → Connect a channel, then choose telegram.
- Paste the token into Bot token.
- Enter the channel's @username or numeric chat ID, including any minus sign.
- Save and confirm that the displayed channel is correct.
- Write at most 4096 characters, including any attached link.
- With images, the first 1024 characters become the caption; remaining text follows separately.
- Postial supports up to four images per post (Telegram itself supports ten per album), with the caption on the first image.
- Public channels get a message link; private channels may not expose one.
- If a warning says the remaining text failed, send it manually instead of reposting the images.
- If access fails, check the token, chat ID, and bot administrator permissions.
